In the aftermath of the massacre at Va Tech, I was, on Friday morning, stunned to hear the nationally broadcast announcement for churches to ring their bells for 32 students at noon. We, at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Greenfield, MA, rang our bells 33 times.

In order to become fellowshipped as a Unitarian Universalist minister, one must undergo a rigorous training and examination process, culminating in an oral exam by a national board of UU ministers and lay leadership. The candidate for ministry is allowed to form the first question. This is mine. I was fellowshipped in 2002.
